The Groundhog has nothing on us, there is always sunshine and smiles at Virtual ParentCamp!

We are not going to let the groundhog’s prediction of six more weeks of winter get us down. No, we are going to stay positive, connect, enjoy each other’s company and the conversation at Virtual ParentCamp.

Please make sure you have downloaded/updated to the latest version of Zoom! Either download an update to your tablet/phone or download the update on your computer. You may ask why??? With the new version, you will be able to change rooms on your own! Even though Julie will miss seeing you all in the main room, you can now change rooms by yourself, but you need the latest version of Zoom in order to do it. She will still be in the main room if you need assistance, it is ok.

You are really going to enjoy this one. We have had such a pleasure getting to know Allan over the past few weeks and we couldn’t wait for him to join us on Virtual ParentCamp.

There is no such things as a perfect parent but almost any father can become the dad he wants to be if he is committed to trying. Research shows that the qualities children want and need from their dad are the same ones dads want to cultivate and the same ones that child development experts believe children (and dads) need to thrive.

Room 2 [Connect] – Mobilizing Kentuckians for a Big Bold Future

How do we change education? We must all get involved and have a seat at the table and know how to navigate both the education and legislative worlds. The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence is an organization who knows how to mobile and build parent leaders (hint, our very own Julie Pile is a graduate of the Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership Program (aka CIPL). So even if you aren’t from Kentucky, join this room and learn how to mobile communities in your own state.

Room 3 [Strengthen] – Let’s Talk: Creative Ways Parents and Teachers can Collaborate to Nurture Kids – Right now!
Facilitator: Amanda Girvin (@AmandaGirvin), Camp Ernst Middle School (@CampErnstBlazer) Teacher and Parent
Amanda is a 22 year veteran teacher, certified in English, Journalism, History, and Instructional Technology and recently became a National Geographic Certified Educator. Come share your thoughts and seek ways to support children when times are tough.

Room 4 [Collaborate] – Sharing Ways to Engage Parents On-line to make a Difference in their Families/Communities

Facilitator: Carrie Sanders, Youth Services Coordinator, Maryland State Library (#MDLibraries)

Heather and Carrie are looking forward to bringing families together with public librarians and other community members committed to helping youth and families to provide support and energy for each other.
