Room 1 [Strengthen] – Reframing Resolutions: Using Our New Year’s Goals as an Opportunity to Model and Practice the Power of Growth Mindset

Raise your hand if you’ve ever started off with a New Year’s resolution on January 1st and by January 31st you’ve found that your resolve is gone, you’ve fallen off the wagon, and you’d better just wait until next New Year’s to try again! If this is you, you’re not alone! Join me as we have a little fun sharing about our past New Year’s “fails” and how this year we can start thinking about “failing forward” by looking at our resolutions through the lens of “not yet”. Resolutions, or personal goals, are a great opportunity to model growth mindset for our kids while we also extend kindness and grace to ourselves! As an educator, learner, and leader for 15+ years, I have seen evidence of the value of a growth mindset in students, teachers, parents, and schools. Let’s kick off 2022 unpacking the power of knowing “I haven’t gotten there…YET”!
Room 2 [Strengthen] – Family Collaboration: Setting Family Goals in 2022
Facilitator: Cam F Awesome (@camfawesome), Diversity & Inclusion Consultant, MO
Setting goals isn’t just important for adults, it’s important for students as well. We will discuss ways to set goals as a family to crush 2022.
Cam is an Emmy Nominated, 6 time USA National Champion, 4 time Golden Gloves National Champion, 2 Time Olympic Trials Champion Heavyweight boxer, and former Captain of the USA National boxing team. Cam Awesome is also a proud Member of the National Speakers Association. Cam is a diversity consultant whose overall goal is to address “the elephant in the room” in a way to create change, not place blame.
Room 3 [Strengthen] – New Beginnings During Different Times: REALLY Understanding Resilience
Facilitator: Sara Truebridge (@saratruebridge), Author and Founder, Educating The New Humanity, CA
I have never experienced a global pandemic before. Have you? What I do know though, is a lot about resilience, compassion fatigue, stress, self-care, teaching, and learning. That comes from 40+ years of experience and expertise in education having worked in ALL sectors of education: policy, practice, and research. As a resilience researcher and founder of EdLinks: Educating The New Humanity, I am passionate about my vision to globally “Awaken and Lift Humanity” to promote excellence, learning, love, well-being, and equity for all children, youth, and adults. Hope you will join me as I share why resilience is more than just a “buzz word” as we learn to understand what resilience REALLY means and looks like in schools and at home. AND we focus on YOUR resilience so that you can be at your best to support the resilience of others.
Dr. Sara Truebridge, Founder of Educating The New Humanity LLC and EdLinks™ LLC, is a consultant, researcher, TED Talk presenter, educator, and author specializing in the area of resilience, combining her experience and expertise in the areas of research, policy, and practice to promote success and equity for all. Sara is the Education Consultant to the documentary, “In Search of Greatness.” She was also the Education Consultant on the films, “Beyond Measure” and “Race To Nowhere.” Sara is a faculty member in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Southern New Hampshire University.
