We had some great discussion on how to get families interested and excitement for family events. Some highlights:
Some of the challenges of families participating in events:
@PreK33 – Bad school experiences, low income, drug/alcohol abuse, transportation, work schedule.
@FlowersClass1st – Time! Some families work 2 jobs. Some families have 1 vehicle.
@blocht574 – Time, not wanting to get overburdened with responsibility, cultural barriers
@MrLiberrosClass – If the events were engaging enough and given adequate publicity, parents would come. Parents care and make plans accordingly. The question is, are we communicating effectivly? Are the events purposeful and engaging?
@posickj – Makes me wonder if we can’t find another way to connect with parents, say livestream that’s recorded, that allows for viewing at any time.
