@clegleiter – Family time is the most important part of what we do – parenting. Obstacles include the amount of workload and the unknown when it will come in waves – which impacts family.
@juliepile – Family time is important because it brings centering to our lives. Focuses us on what is important. Gives us that inner joy feeling when we spend time together.
@dcrescitelli – Family time is important because it is our chance to reconnect after being apart during our busy days…
@clegleiter – We create more family time but finding ways that are taking away from it. There are things that are not necessary that can be reduced and put family time in its place. Priorities and modeling by parents is important.
@WinklerD – Be intentional. Tell yourself to disconnect. Find ways to make the activities you already do a family one.
@Tara_Desiderio – I try to spend individual time with both of my children. It gives them time to open up more and have my full attention.
@MandyMunich – Schedule family nights, or breakfast, whatever works! Even if it’s a few minutes a day, make sure everyone in the house knows the family is a priority! And get creative if you have to, the kids will appreciate it!
@MisAbeTeachers – I try to make the best of car rides with my son. Sometimes just going over vocab or talking about his day. We also sit around and do our individual work in the same space at the same time. Fam walks instead of gym cardio some mornings.

On Wednesday, October 16th #ParentCampChat, we will be talking about Helping Families Use Tech to Engage with & Improve their Communities with ParentCamp team member Jeremy Bond (@JeremyDBond) in conjunction with Digital Citizenship Week.
Jeremy Bond attended his first ParentCamp at the U.S. Department of Education in 2015, moderated a packed breakout session and would return the following years as a ParentCamp Board member and facilitator. During this same period, in 2015 Jeremy joined the first global Digital Citizenship Summit in his town of West Hartford, Connecticut, then followed the annual summits to Twitter headquarters in San Francisco; Provo, Utah; and St. Louis, serving as a panelist. Jeremy has approached all of these summits and other education-related conferences, and his active online learning community, from the standpoint of being a parent. Jeremy advocates for the voices of parents and families as a regular Twitter chat moderator and participant, as a guest on online and offline forums and podcasts, and as a graduate of a Parent Leadership Training Institute program, among other roles. This experience, as well as training and background in journalism, have shaped his passion and growing understanding of digital citizenship and media literacy. Jeremy is communications, media, and publications manager for Connecticut’s State Education Resource Center, whose professional learning opportunities and resources support equity and excellence in education.
