We had a very fast and uplifting chat last week. We started the conversations off with sharing something for which we are each proud. The lesson to be learned from this, it is ok to share good news and celebrate YOU.
We then moved into to discussing how we can celebrate students. Not just academically, but overcoming life’s challenges. It is important to celebrate all students even if it may seem like a small accomplishment to some, it could be a huge accomplishment to them. It was also noted to make sure to include parents/families in celebrations. Often a student would not get there if it were not for the support of family.
There was quite a bit of discussion centering around making sure we celebrate students from various cultures and understanding their cultural norms. It is important to show sincerity and effort being made to accept everyone into our communities.
